Happily homed.........

Here you will find photos and stories of Castledon greyhounds who now have new homes and loving families.......

Sinbad & Twister photographed in their new home

"We first decided that we would like a dog as a pet, and after a lot of thought, we chose to adopt a Greyhound.

We contacted Castledon Kennels in Wickford, we were home checked by Jodie and Sandra and then invited to 'View' the Grey's.

As soon as we saw Sinbad, we knew he was the one we wanted.

On one of our regular visits back to the Kennels, we were meeting other dogs and Twister was introduced to us, and he never left Maxine's side all the time we were walking him, along with Sinbad.  We thought about taking him, and we were advised to let him come for a weekend, and see how he got on with Sinbad.  He never went back to the kennels.

Both our dogs get on very, very well.  And in addition, are inseparable.  They are the most placid, easy going, lazy dogs that any one could meet.  All they need are two 20-30 minute walks a day.  And they are very happy to sleep the rest of the day away.  They are very easy to house train.  We have never had any accidents in the house.

They are very spoilt!

We allowed our dogs to have the conservatory, and gradually they have commanded the whole house.  They sleep where ever they want to.  They only do what they want, when they want, IF they want..........  But you can't help but love them.

They became a part of the family so quickly.  And give us many hours of fun and laughter, and are wonderful company.  We would take more Grey's in if we could.

We would not be without Sinbad & Twister."

N.B. Both dogs enjoy "Cruising" along the seafront with their heads out of the windows of 'Daddies' car.

Wishy photographed in her new home

"It took all of 24 hours for Wishy to win our hearts, and Jack is her devoted companion. We would recommend adopting a greyhound to anyone who wants a dog. They are perfect!"

Glen - photographed in his new home

"This is a picture of our Greyhound, Glen, in his favourite place - the sofa! We got Glen one year ago and we really cant imagine life without him. I would really recommend to anyone who wants a dog to consider a Greyhound.

We live in a small one bedroomed flat & he is no trouble at all. I am sure that Glen views our flat as a designer kennel! Most of all Greyhounds are quiet & that is important when you live in a flat. We have met some wonderful people who also have Greyhounds.

Jodie & Sandra were able to give us lots of follow up advice so that we knew that we were taking care of Glen.

We dream of moving to a house and getting more Greyhounds!!"

Gwenna, Clifford & Glen.

Harvey & Kiwi - photographed in their new home

Harvey was specially chosen for us about 3 years ago by Jodie & Sandra. He is extremely laidback and nothing much would upset him, except maybe the hoover! He is very loving and gentle & we often find him half asleep just staring lovingly at us out of one eye!!

Kiwi is a totally different hound. She is also very loving and loves to be tucked up at night. She surrounds her rug downstairs during the day with her soft toys and our shoes.  None of them are chewed or damaged but she collects things during the day whenever she has a happy moment; Food; Biscuit; Cuddle!! Lovely little girl.

My hounds leave me speechless and i cant fit in just how great they are in a few words!

Ranger - photographed in his new home

'Ranger' came into our lives just over 18 months ago and changed our lives forever.
Right from the first day he settled in immediately and by the end of the week he had the run of the house!
From the beginning he's been perfectly behaved, loves his walks, and carrying his toys in and out of the garden. He also loves many hours of sleep!
Ranger is no problem when left aone and is ecstatic to see us when we get home.
In short, we'd recommend a greyhound to anyone.

Foxy - photographed in her new home

We didn't pick Foxy - she picked us!! She has settled in with us so well & not a day goes by when she doesn't make us smile.

Bernie - photographed in his new home

We knew that we would have to take Bernie home with us when he stopped at our car on our first walk out of the kennels!

He loves to go out in the car & really looks forward to his trips to the park.

He has settled in & is now one of the family..

John, Kerry & Laura Barr.

Misty - photographed in her new home

Misty has been with us nearly three years. She settled in very quickly, is very loving & a great companion to everyone, especially 'Marty' ur other dog who has been with us nearly thirteen years - they love to play & run around the garden together.

Tracy & Matt Epsly.

Paddy - photographed in his new home

Paddy came to us just before Christmas and although Jodie and Sandra said Paddy would be fine we were amazed at how laid back he was with 18 people having a full blown Christmas in his new home.

As this photo shows Paddy had a hard time adjusting!!

He loves his bed and his favourite toy is a very loud squeaky leopard with orange legs. He enjoys chasing it and then chewing it until the squeak shouts ‘STOP!!’

However, being a typical grey he soon reverts to a more familiar pose.

He does enjoy his walks although sometimes he would rather stay in bed!

He now enjoys himself with a run in the park most days as he has really adapted to his new life and is, frankly, too lazy to chase anything for too long!! (About 20 seconds is his limit.)

Paddy has changed our lives and has become a huge part of our family and much loved by us all. We only hope he feels the same about us!!

Ruby - photographed in her new home

Ruby was chosen for us by Jodie after a home-check. Ruby walked in one saturday morning 7 yrs ago, and we could not have chosen a more wonderful dog ourselves. She is quite timid but has been known to steal cakes & biscuits and always sneaks out to steal the cats food when she thinks we're not looking!!
Her favourite past-time is sunbathing.
Ruby had a hind leg amputated after contracting bone cancer, 18 months ago, and although it was an awful time, she bounced back & can still run. She is 11 now & very poorly.
Thankyou to Jodie & Sandra - keep up the good work!

Sky - photographed in her new home

As soon as we saw Sky, we knew she was the dog for us. She is very affectionate and is always looking for attention! She loves having her tummy tickled and you can always count on her being up for a game in the garden! She has changed our lives and we couldn't live without her now!
