DUMBO'S BLOG
7 year old - brindle dog

Hello, this is Dumbo here...
You may recognise me as I've been on the Castledon website for such a long time now, waiting for someone to give me a nice home. I didn't know what a 'home' was until very recently.....read on to find out about my first experience of a 'Home'............

I have recently acquired my very own 'walkers' - they are two very kind people called Andrea & Dale. They come & pick me up from the kennels every week & take me out for a nice walk with their own two Greyhounds, Nikki & Jezza.

At first I was very scared to be leaving my home at the kennels & going off with two people I didn't know. Jodie said I would enjoy it & it would be good for me but I wasn't so sure.....But now I love going when Andrea & Dale come to pick me up....I even get a bit excited & wag my tail - its so much more fun than sitting in my boring kennel.
They come & pick me up form the kennels first, then we stop off outside their house & they go in & get Nikki & Jezza - then we all go off on a nice walk together.
But this particular time, instead of going straight back to the kennels after my walk, Andrea & Dale said they would let Nikki & Jezza show me where they live so I would know what a home was like..................

At first I was a bit worried as Nikki & Jezza ran through this big door & disappeared, only to reappear seconds later.
As I wasn't sure what was in there, I stayed in the garden. But eventually, curiosity got the better of me & I followed them in......

WOW! It was like the biggest
kennel you've ever seen!
It has a padded, fluffy floor
and SO much room to
lounge around in, which Nikki
& Jezza delighted in doing.

There was a tank with fish in (which were a bit boring, really!) and a talking box but I couldn't figure out how the people got in there!
My friends, Nikki & Jezza, soon told me that it was a television and that there was no need to worry about it, so I didn't!

I followed Nikki & Jez around for a while, but they soon got tired & laid down, so I did too, as you can see...

The kitchen was interesting - lots of food smells & a different kind of floor.
I soon plucked up the courage to venture in there & I discovered that there was nothing to worry about.

- especially as food was served in there!

Before I knew it, it was time to go back to Jodie at the kennels.
I followed Nikki & Jezza into the garden where we had a 'who can wee the highest' competition....Jezza won.
Andrea & Dale said they were really pleased with me as I had made no attempt to wee up their furniture, which apparently is frowned upon - so, I scored some brownie points there!

I jumped back in the car with its moving, magical sofa which transported us back to Castledon.
I slept all the way back, dreaming of the next time I could visit.

I was pleased to see everyone back at the kennels, but can't help hoping that somewhere out there is a place that I can call a home of my own with my own special people to love & look after me. I would even promise to be a really good boy.

Lots of love, Dumbo xxx
